Core Services of the Ports Authority Tonga

 CORPORATE SERVICES

Corporate Services is an integral part of the support structures of the organization. It provides activities that combine certain enterprises – wide needed support services, provided based on specialized knowledge, best practices, and technology to serve internal (and sometimes external) customers and business partners. It is the axle on which the various divisions in the Authority rely to carry out their various functions and roles.       


FINANCE & IT 

The Finance and IT Division is the backbone of the Ports Authority, as it is responsible for the financial planning, budget and management of the company's projects, work plans and operations. Auditing, Risk and compliance is a key part of this Division, with IT being responsible for all information, communication and technologies that operates day to day business processes.


INFRASTRUCTURE, TECHNICAL SERVICES

One of the key priority task of the ITS Division is to maintain and upgrade the capacity and condition of the existing infrastructure, both on the wharfs and buildings. The objective is to ensure that we are providing the best working environment for our staffs and accomplishing our client’s requisition.


MARINE SERVICES

The Marine Division is comprising of a range of maritime based activities that encompass the unit’s roles including the Piloting Movements and Tugboat Movements and overseeing the safety operation of Aids to Navigation end ensuring the compliance with relevant acts and regulations. The unit also manages the safe operation of the slipway as well as its ongoing maintenance throughout the year. Our key responsibility involves the safe movement of both international and domestic vessels with the Port of Nuku’alofa in accordance with the Ports Authority Act 1998.

The operation Division vision is “to be the best provider of superior quality port terminal and operation services to the Kingdom of Tonga” committed to tailoring operation to the needs of its customers through engaging with customers all the way to the completion of the task 

 


 PORT SECURITY AND DOMESTIC OPERATIONS

 Port security and Domestic operation Divisions both successfully executed their prescribed roles
and responsibilities well despite the many challenges we faced since the declaration of the COVID-19 as a global pandemic. the port security was able to completely execute its function despite the global negative and destructive impact brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic which also impacted the Ports Authority Tonga’s operations.
